Apple users have a few different methods for hiding apps. The downside is that these apps don’t usually last forever and you’re left with no options if the phone gets damaged or broken. There are some hacks out there, but here’s how to hide an app permanently!
The “how to hide apps on iphone settings” is a question that has been asked many times before. The answer is found in the “iPhone Settings”.
One of our most personal possessions is a cell phone. It has a wealth of applications, images, movies, and documents that disclose a great deal about our personalities, likes, and preferences. As a result, it terrifies us greatly if our mobile device gets into the hands of strangers. Because Android is open source, concealing applications on Android devices is considerably simpler than on iOS. On the other hand, since iOS is closed source, hiding programs on the iPhone is difficult. But don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. In today’s brief article, I’ll show you how to quickly and simply hide applications on your iPhone using some easy tips and tactics.
When is it OK to hide apps?
Let’s start with figuring out when it’s ideal to hide applications on your iPhone…
- When you wish to keep your kids away from gaming and other addictive applications,
- When you’re utilizing NSFW (Not Safe for Work) or socially unethical applications. Consider how a coworker could see the ‘Tinder’ app symbol on your iPhone while you’re looking for the ‘Translate app’ in front of him. What a disgrace!
- Or if you don’t want anybody at work to know about your hobby or passion. You might, for example, conceal applications connected to journal writing, stock trading, and other activities if you don’t want people at work to know about them. It all boils down to your particular choices.
How do you conceal applications on your iPhone?
Enough with the introductions. Let’s get right to the point about how to hide applications on your iPhone…
1) Apps on the Home Screen may be hidden.
When you open your iPhone, the first page you view is the home screen. You may hide applications from the iPhone home screen in two ways:
A) Adding applications to the App Library from the home screen
Moving applications from the home screen to the App Library is one option. It’s the page that appears when you swipe left from the previous home screen. It organizes all of your iPhone’s installed applications into distinct categories automatically. Because the App Library is hidden far beyond the last home-screen, moving applications you wish to conceal from the home-screen to this place is comparably safer.
Here’s how to hide an app from the iPhone’s home screen:
- Press and hold the app you wish to hide for a long time.
- Select ‘Remove App’ from the drop-down menu.
- Choose ‘Remove from Home Screen’ from the drop-down menu.

Selecting ‘Delete App’ will fully delete your app.
B) Hiding the main page of the home screen
Another method for concealing applications on the iPhone is to place all of the apps you wish to hide on a different home-screen page, then hide that page.
The steps are as follows:
- Long-press and drag all the applications you’d want to conceal to a new home-screen page.
- After you’ve finished relocating them, press and hold anywhere on the new home screen for a long time.
- The dotted navigation bar should be tapped (just above the dock icons)
- Uncheck the home-screen preview you wish to conceal and then hit the top-right corner’Done’ button.
For your convenience, I’ve included some screenshots…
1) Hover your mouse over the dotted navigation bar.
2) Uncheck the box next to the home-screen page you’d want to conceal.
2) Hide apps from search & Apple suggestions
You may quickly hide applications from the iPhone home-screen display by following the steps outlined above. However, the hidden applications and their content may still display in Siri recommendations and spotlight searches (such as while sharing something, widgets, lock screen suggestions, etc.)
To hide applications in all of these places on your iPhone, we’ll have to go a step farther. Simply follow the instructions outlined below:
- Go to the iPhone’s settings menu.
- ‘Siri and Search’ should be selected.
- Select the app(s) you wish to hide from search and recommendations by scrolling down and selecting them.
- Uncheck all of the following settings, including Learn from this App, Show App in Search, Show on Home Screen, Suggest App, and Suggest Notifications. The toggle bar will change from green to grey.
Here are some examples of useful screenshots:

To deactivate app-specific search and recommendations, uncheck all options.
That is all there is to it. You’ve now successfully hidden your preferred applications from the Home screen, as well as from search and recommendations on your iPhone.
3) Apps in the App Library may be hidden.
With the iOS 14 upgrade, the App Library functionality was added. It arranges all of the applications on your iPhone into folders automatically and beautifully. This App Library contains the applications you just concealed from your iPhone’s home screen.
So, you’re probably wondering how to conceal applications from this App Library as well.
It’s challenging, to say the least. However, here are a couple hacks to try:
A) For your iPhone’s default (pre-installed) apps:
- Select ‘Screen Time’ from the ‘Settings’ menu.
- Tap on ‘Content & Privacy Restrictions‘
- Turn on the toggle for ‘Content & Privacy Restrictions’
- Select ‘Allowed Apps’ from the drop-down menu.
- Turn the toggle switch for the applications you’d want to hide off.
B) Installed third-party applications on your iPhone:
Please note: Unlike pre-installed apps, there is no turn off toggle switch in ‘Content & Privacy Restrictions’ for individual third-party apps. You just get to select apps to be shown based on age restriction criteria (like 4+, 9+, 12+, 17+), OR… to ‘Allow all apps’ or ‘Don’t Allow apps’ to be shown at all.
This is how it’s done:
- Select ‘Screen Time’ from the ‘Settings’ menu.
- Tap on ‘Content & Privacy Restrictions’
- Turn on the toggle for ‘Content & Privacy Restrictions’
- Go to ‘Content Restrictions’ and then ‘Apps.’
- Choose one of the following options: ‘Don’t Allow Apps,’ 4+, 9+, 12+, 17+, or ‘Allow All Apps.’
1) Apps Settings inside ‘Content & Privacy Restrictions’
2) Choosing parameters that impact the display of installed third-party applications on your iPhone
If you apply the above-mentioned method to conceal third-party applications from your iPhone’s App Library, your home-screen settings (including App arrangements, Pages, and folders) will be deleted.
4) Hide applications from purchase history in the App Store
There’s one more area on your iPhone where you’ll need to hide your secret applications. That’s what your ‘Purchase History on the App Store’ is for.
Every free or paid iOS software you download is stored in an App Store ledger called ‘Purchase History.’ As a result, evidence of your hidden applications may also be located in this location. If you have another iOS device that is signed in with the same Apple ID or that is configured to ‘Family Sharing,’ you might be in danger.
Here’s how to keep applications off of your ‘Purchase History on the App Store’:
- Go to the App Store and install it.
- Select your photograph by tapping on it (in the top right corner)
- Select ‘Purchased’ from the drop-down menu.
- A list of all the applications you’ve ever downloaded on your iPhone will appear. Scroll down to the app you want to hide and click it.
- Swipe left across the app and hit ‘Hide.’
