Windows devices, particularly those that rely on battery power, save energy in a variety of methods to ensure that the battery lasts as long as possible. Controlling parasitic energy loss from any peripherals attached to your computer is a part of this power management.

We’ll go through USB power management in Windows 11 and how it may help your laptop last longer on battery power in this post.

Any USB devices attached to your computer that don’t need an external power source will most likely take the power they need from your PC’s USB ports.

If you’re utilizing battery power, this will use more of it, causing your battery to deplete quicker.

When the device linked to them is inactive, Windows 11 offers a feature that may prevent this power drain by disconnecting USB ports. This may reduce power loss to nearly nothing, resulting in longer battery life. USB Selective Suspend is the name of the option.
